I co-founded Pacific Women’s OB/GYN Medical Group with Dr. Joanne Hom to create a practice where women feel heard, respected, and well cared for throughout their lives. My clinical interests include high-risk and twin pregnancies, as well as the transitions of perimenopause and menopause—including conditions that become more important as women age, such as heart disease and osteoporosis—areas where I have extensive experience.

I care deeply about making high-quality care accessible, particularly for underserved communities. That commitment led me to found the MAVEN Project, a nonprofit that uses telehealth to connect experienced volunteer specialists with primary care providers working in safety-net clinics. Through real-time consultations, mentorship, and continuing education, MAVEN helps frontline clinicians deliver care requiring specialist expertise to patients who would otherwise go without. Today, MAVEN includes over 200 volunteer physicians and supports more than 500 clinic sites across 31 states.

Locally, I’ve served on the San Francisco Health Commission since 2018, including as President, helping oversee SF General, Laguna Honda, and the Department of Public Health. The Department’s mission is to protect and promote the health of all San Franciscans, ensuring that every resident—regardless of income, insurance status, or background—has access to essential health services.

Earlier in my career, I worked as a medical reporter for KTVU and other Bay Area stations—communicating clearly about health has always mattered to me. Outside of work, I enjoy audiobooks, cooking, and time with my two children—and, yes, I still love delivering babies.

Philosophy of Care

I've long believed that truly getting to know a patient—her concerns, her personal and family history, her understanding of health—is more valuable than simply having encyclopedic medical knowledge. While we are OB/GYN physicians, I also focus on the broader issues that affect your well-being and disease prevention. I aim to help guide you through the often overwhelming—and sometimes unreliable—medical information circulating on social media by layering facts with experience and context.

That kind of guidance is best delivered through conversation: in person, by video, or over the phone. The jury is still out on the value and accuracy of written portal messages, and you’ll never receive an AI-generated note from me. Our relationship is a partnership, and my goal is to support you in all aspects of your health.
